Clarinet

 

The primary objectives of the advanced course of clarinet will be to strengthen and enhance the basic techniques learned in the previous courses, elementary and intermediate (breathing, embouchure, fingering etc ...). By the end of this course the student should be able to be more familiar with clarinet repertoire from musical and technical perspectives, demonstrate an awareness of elements of good performance (musicianship/sensivity) and perform with confidence in solo and group playing.

 

Four courses are included in the advanced degree of clarinet:

 

COURSE 1

 

• 90 minutes of private instruction per week, divided in two parts.

 

First part:

- Topics to be studied include: tone quality, pitch or different types of attack, use of technical and method books, sound direction and melodic phrase.

 

Second part:

-A wide variety of different musical pieces will be covered, including all styles of music. Emphasis will also be directed towards developing a working knowledge of the standard clarinet literature, including historical significance, form and style. Classical as well as contemporary music will be revised.

 

COURSE 2

 

• 90 minutes of private instruction per week, continuing course 1.

• Extra 30 minutes will be assigned to subject "Instrumentos de la familia I", where the student will develop individual and ensemble musicianship, using the different instruments available in the clarinet room (E-flat clarinet, B-flat clarinet, A clarinet, basset horn, B-flat bass clarinet), as well as those instruments the students would like to bring in, in case the conservatory do not own them.

 

COURSE 3

 

• 90 minutes of private instruction per week, continuing course 2.

• Extra 30 minutes will be assigned to the subject "Instrumentos de la familia II", continuing level I.

• 60 minutes of ensemble Orchestral Repertoire instruction.

 

COURSE 4

 

• 90 minutes of private instruction per week, continuing course 3.

• 60 minutes of ensemble Orchestral Repertoire instruction.

 

Regular monthly auditions will be offered for the students. Topics will include physical and mental relaxation, posture habits adaptation, breath, mental and visualization control, stage fright...

 

Students will be permanently reported on current activities regarding concerts, auditions, studio announcements or workshops taking place during the academic/vacation period.
